A Slice of Sedgwick, A Bit of Barrymore

Fashionista 101

Between Kyra Sedgwick's Emilio Pucci and Drew Barrymore's Jil Sander, citrus hues have graced the runways with sunny impact recently. Tangerine, Mango, Orange, CLEMENTINE- no matter what you call the color, it's one of this spring's brightest trends.

Sedgwick paired her mango gown with gorgeous turquoise drop earrings while Barrymore kept her accessories in graphic black and white. I also love this shot of Amy Adams below as she brought the drama with a bold, red, strappy sandal.

Yet another redhead strutted down the red carpet in the bright hue. Kate Mara appeared with Zac Posen at the Met Gala looking fabulous in this ruffled frock. I'm loving the redheads and their bold color choices! It's inspired me to test the tangerine waters...

For those of us whose red carpet in life is the grocery store aisle or office hallway, designers have created RTW for Spring in sunny citrus shades to put some pep in your step. Pair them with khaki pants or camel shoes to keep all the attention on the bright tone or pull a Sedgwick or Adams by playing it up with turquoise accessories or a red lip.

And if you're worried about this shade's staying power, don't be. Tangerine dreams still appear in Pre-Fall looks from a variety of designers, including Salvatore Ferragamo and Bally. Just add a camel coat to your mango dress or brown tweed pants to your silky clementine top!

Until I can get my hands on the right shade of orange for me, I'll have to settle for a citrus-y treat. Off to grab an orange from the kitchen...pretending I reached out my window and snatched it from this branch!

  1. Great post Linds. Saw that Ferragamo outfit in a magazine recently and really liked the color combo. Was also a fan of Kyra's dress at the GG's...your article is inspiring me to warm up to this color! I was a bit apprehensive at first! Lela Rose brought this color to life in her spring '10 collection to in this dress that Ashley wore to a wedding we went to in Wilson, and that was the first time I really noticed the color: http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=804300982248&set=t.2725624

  2. Oh you are so right about the Lela Rose color story! I KNEW I had seen it somewhere and loved it. Ashley did rock it and looked amazing. Might have to do an addendum post. I'm WARMING up to it myself...that Nanette Lepore top might have to be mine. A little goes a long way...
