Flashy Flashback

Lussion

"It would be very glamorous to to be reincarnated as a great big ring on Liz Taylor's finger."
-Andy Warhol

Warhol and Edie Sedgwick -Keziah Plummer

No matter what you know about art or New York in the 1960s, you've most likely at least heard of Andy Warhol. And despite how different or farfetched his lifestyle seemed to be, you have to love the guy for believing in the fantasy.

I'm a big fan of Warhol's work and have been for quite some time. Ever since I stumbled into an advanced art history class as a college sophomore (not sure why they let me in- must have been fate!), I learned the value and characteristics of modern art. But Warhol's artwork has held in my mind for so many reasons- his use of color, his feelings about commercialism, his attention to fashion and film, and indubitably his sense of glamour.

His paintings translate beautifully into the modern and stylish homes of today. He might despise the fact that his art has become commercialized but fabulous citizens of the world have fallen in love with his pieces. I especially love seeing the "it" girls of the '60s hanging out in offices and entryways in businesses and houses.

Want a little royalty everyday? Why not frame the queen??

You can walk amongst fashion icons...

Or appreciate your own portrait...if you were lucky enough to be painted by the master...

I'd love to get my hands on any one of these pieces for my own home. Of course, you can buy prints on a variety of art sales web Sites, but which one do you choose?! I suppose I'll wait until I'm sure. After all...

"The idea of waiting for something makes it more exciting!"
-Andy Warhol

  1. I'm not a huge Warhol fan, but I appreciate the direction he took things. Modern art is not my cup of tea. You've chosen some really nice examples of his work though.

Don't leave that doggy alone all day, she needs a friend to play in the snow.

  2. Modern art is definitely not everyone's favorite, but I'm glad you can appreciate some of the examples!

PenPen has gotten a few moments of playtime today. I'll do the best I can!
