My Cerise Amore

This week, Holiday collections started hitting stores like snowballs against a widowshield- did you feel that SMACK?! Can you believe HOLIDAY items are coming out in stores everywhere already??

One of my all-time favorite designers, 3.1 Phillip Lim, sent an e-blast on Monday showcasing their new Holiday fashions. And while I certainly loved his edgy, but dare I say, predictable sequin cocktail dresses and black leather goodies (sorry, Phil!), there was one serious element of surprise...

PINK!

What a fun surprise! And just in time for Christmas (lists)! I have to say, I love the unexpected pop of color- it energizes dramatic black but is playfully sophisticated against peach and blush tones. The team at Phillip Lim doesn't even call this color pink...it's "Cerise," making me love it even more!

Lim must be having a serious pink moment, as he used the same color, though a bit lighter, for his Fall/Winter collection this year.

Lim hasn't been the only one cheering up closets around the U.S. with the shockingly bright hue. Lela Rose, Thakoon and Theory, among others, have recently churned out dresses bright enough for a spring fling. That is probably the greatest thing about this fun, energetic color- while it's lively and bright for winter, it's perfectly appropriate and approachable for spring. Three cheers for four-season dressing!!

(I must say, I love these caged platforms paired with the dress above. The mix looks very sassy/sweet.)

Theory Taliana Silk-Crepe Dress from Net-A-Porter

Of course, on cold days, a great coat can literally brighten your day!

Oscar de la Renta Cropped Tweed Jacket from Net-A-Porter

We must also not forget that pink is the color of breast cancer awareness and October is breast cancer awareness month. This fall and winter, dare to wear PINK!
