Fall Wish List
Disclaimer: These items are on my wish list. No budgeting or paying of attention to prices in any way has been done. That's why we call them WISH lists, right?
Today felt like one of the hottest we've had this summer. And, yet, I'm gathering my wits for fall. Welcome to the mind of the fashion-obsessed. It's not about WANTING something. It's about CREATING. The looks below have inspired my fall wardrobe and my wish list has been comprised to create...if you will.

One Piece Round-Up
This summer has seen the resurgence of the one piece and thank goodness for that. Now that I'm in my 30's, I truly value the opportunity to cover up stylishly. But when you're lounging poolside or sunbathing on the beach in Miami, you can't wear just any one piece bathing suit. It's got to be fab. And, yes, my dear friends, in three weeks my sis and I will be doing just that! It's time to spruce up the swimsuit wardrobe for the sake of looking chic in Miami.
Over the weekend in Miami, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim revealed the top trends for 2014 swimwear and let me be the first to tell you that it's more about your fab beach cover-ups and loungewear than it is about your swimwear. Score- we can eat that brownie after all. Mara Hoffman had my favorite option, an ethereal white embroidered maxi dress. Since her new line won't be available for a few more months (and will probably cost more than I care to pay), I went hunting for a similar find and this Topshop option scored high numbers with me.

So which suit would you choose? Or are you a stylish cover-up kind of gal? And if you've been to Miami before, please share your favorite places to go and things to do!

While I can't afford Kate's fabulous wardrobe, I must say she has really piqued my interest with the Temperley London line and even more so, Temperley's off-brand, ALICE by Temperley. These are some of my favorite pieces.

Can't wait to see what new style inspiration Kate's mom style will bring!

Linen Love
Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you all had wonderful weekends. Our weekend was a ball with a fun 30th birthday party in Raleigh on Saturday and an overhaul of the bedding in my bedroom on Sunday. You may recall the master bedroom musings here just over a week ago. After lots of searching and virtual decorating, I finally narrowed down my choice- with the help of Neiman Marcus's 25% off bedding sale- and am thrilled with the results.
Williamsburg Garden Folly Shams and Bedskirt/ Matouk Scallops Monogram Sheets and Pillowcases/ Threshold Comforter/ Calvin Klein Quilt
The goal was to bring in some more color (click here to see the bedding before) and a little bit of pattern. I didn't want the room to be boring but I also didn't want to feel overly stimulated before bedtime. This traditional floral pattern from Williamsburg was a great anchor to the modern, geometric rug and the Chinoiserie-inspired headboard. I love how the garden trellis pattern from the same collection mixes with both the rug and the shams. That great pattern and its colors really tie everything in together, including the sheets! The room feels interesting yet sophisticated to me. One day, I'll probably swap out the rug but I think I'll have all of these other pieces for the long haul.
There's only oooone more piece left to tackle in the master bedroom. Can you guess?
New nightstands! I have a pair being lacquered as I type and they'll be ready for pick-up soon. I can't wait to get them in here and have a fully functioning bedroom!

Thanks for joining me on this lovely linen tour! And if you're missing the outfit posts and clothing I usually post, I'll be back to fashion tomorrow.

Wednesday's Look For Less: Boyfriend Jeans
Jeans might feel like the devil's grip to you right about now but they are still a staple in many wardrobes. Summertime may not seem like the ideal time to purchase a new pair but some of the best deals come during "off" seasons. Maybe jeans with a few holes in them will keep you half a degree cooler??
I swear that boyfriend jeans are way more flattering than you'd expect and are definitely more comfortable than most other denim styles. It's understandable that you might not want to pay a lot for ripped, saggy jeans so I've brought you two budget-friendly buys. The pair on the left by Joe's Jeans are marked down from $169 to $84.50 right now on Shopbop. Fifty percent off premium denim?? Yes, please! The pair on the right from ASOS ring up full price at $65. That's still a pretty darn good price on jeans. Either way, you've got two great options for your boyfriend jeans that won't break the bank!
Even if you end up shelving these for a few weeks, boyfriend jeans are a great buy. Jazz them up for night with a sequined tank and pumps or keep them casual by day with a striped tee and sneakers. This is one boyfriend you won't break up with.

Fresh-Faced Five Hundredth
image via
It's hard to believe but this post marks Savoir-Flair's five hundredth post! Where has the time gone?? When I think back to when this little blog started, it was just a place to store my favorite images and ideas in the midst of under-employment. Now it's a joke amongst friends ("How do you say it again?? Savoo Flay?"), an escape from the daily grind and a way to interact with sassy creative friends that I've never even met! Thank you for joining me on this crazy ride!

Now, let's get back to business- the business of beauty! Summertime heat calls for more natural beauty enhancement than any other time of year. No one wants to prance around in 100-degree heat with oxblood lips and heavy foundation. In the winter, that look is chic but, in the summer, it's overdone and uncomfortable. Now is the time to break out the tinted moisturizer and keep your skin as clean as possible. I've gathered a collection of some tried and true favs so that we can all look like Blake Lively. Sound good?

Do you have any summer make-up must-haves?
PS- I've recently become obsessed with the Golden Girls concept. If all my girlfriends and I outlive our hubbies, we're moving into a condo together in Palm Beach where we can go antiquing everyday and get our water aerobics on. Care to join us in 50 years??

Chic In The Heat
Y'all, it's hot. Like walk outside and start sweating in 2 seconds hot. If we all had killer bodies and no modesty, we'd be walking around in nothing but shrouds. So why do designers insist on rolling out their pre-fall pieces now? I'm talking sweatshirts, pants, sweaters, coats! Even worse, why do I feel the urge to buy fall pieces now??
It must be wishful thinking. Summer is just getting into full force but I am a girl who likes to have options. That includes the option to wear jeans, cardigans, boots, shorts, swimsuits, sundresses all in one day! Is that too much to ask?

My perfect place must be the desert. In the morning and evening, you need a jacket or sweater. Tanks and shorts in the daytime are a no-brainer and you can wear boots with all of these or not at all. Yes, I'm liking this idea.
These new Tory Burch pieces scream desert prep to me. I can see Georgia O'Keeffe being drawn to this look if she suddenly felt glamorous. If I wore these pieces, I'd trade out the equestrian style boots for edgier- and taller- booties.

Naughty By Nature a.k.a. Edgy Florals
"Florals for spring? Groundbreaking," said in your best Miranda Priestly voice.
But, seriously, these edgy floral prints feel fresh and new. There's something very alluring about a flower arrangement displaying deep, dark hues, like in the anemones arrangement below. And while summertime is all about keeping it light, an autumnal floral print actually feels fresher and newer than a predictable liberty or optimistic Lilly...no offense, of course.
Image/ Icelandic Poppies Fabric/ J.Crew Tank and Shorts/ Loeffler Randall Sandals (on sale!)/ Bauble Bar Bracelet/ Clinique Almost Honey Lipstick
Not only are edgy florals interesting and unexpected, but they are also practical. Yes, I just said practical on this blog. Come Indian summer and fall, you'll find prints in this colorway easy to wear as the seasons transition. Throw a nubby fisherman's sweater on with the shorts for a day running errands or layer the tank underneath a cashmere cardigan. Pieces like these will creep into your wardrobe time and time again and don't get me started on that fabulous velvet fabric...I can see a beautiful French settee upholstered in this luscious print. Put it up against a white wood plank wall and call the room decorated!
So how do you feel about this mix up in the world of summer prints? Are edgy florals out of place to you or as refreshing as a glass of lemonade on a hot summer day?

Master Bedroom Musings
Now that the new headboard is in place (and the mattress is larger than my old one), I need new bedding! Let me tell you- I have felt pretty darn overwhelmed in my search. While I would love nothing more than crisp white linens folded, tucked and monogrammed with meticulous care, two huge dogs that climb all over all of my furniture and initials that will hopefully change one day (ahem) don't make that the smartest investment.

No worries- there are plenty of fabulouscamouflage duvets, shams and sheets in this big, bad world! But that's what has also made the decision so difficult. So here are my top choices. What do you think?

Or how about vintage charm?
Perhaps chinoiserie chic?
There's graphic goodness...
And sweet girlieness...
And, of course, classic.
And as for sheets...
At the end of the day, I feel like simpler bedding is always better. But there's a fine line between a soothing space and a boring one. What do you suggest? Which style gets your vote?

Weekend Updates, House Zhushing & Horticouture
Holy smokes. What a weekend! I hope you all had a fun-filled time with friends, family, food and freedom!! That about sums up my holiday and weekend. Two of my oldest and dearest pals stayed at the beach all week and our q.t. did not disappoint! They even got a little edu-ma-cation on #ootd. For those of you who weren't aware and ever felt confused by my Instagram tags, ootd stands for Outfit Of The Day. An example of my 4th OOTD below...
#ootd
My pals and I get some porch time by night...
And porch time by day!
Even though I live at the beach, I rarely get enough down time to enjoy it for an entire day, much less multiple days in a row! Let me tell you, it was NICE. You can officially certify me a beach bum, red hair and all.
In the meantime, some awesome things went on around my house. A fabulous vintage Hermes scarf got framed and hung in the kitchen and a new headboard from Circa Who arrived on Friday. This Hermes scarf print, Jeu Des Omnibus, was the original pattern for the 90 cm scarf released way back in 1937. My friends over at Rogue Vintage magically got their hands on it and it could not be more fabulous. (Rogue Vintage is also responsible for my other favorite pattern right now, the dress I'm wearing above!) The headboard delivery, however, was a bit disastrous. The delivery truck was loaded backwards and the entire contents of the truck had to be unloaded on my lawn and driveway. Unfortunately, I somehow deleted the picture of this ridiculousness before downloading it. But there was enough vintage for everyone!
Finally, back to our regularly schedule program. It's time for your arrangement of the week eye candy! Trader Joe's hooked it up yesterday. They had such a cool variety, I had to mix and match. I like to call this Stairway to Color Heaven...or something. Anyway, the arrangement happened to nearly perfectly match one of my favorite paintings. I love how the two play off of each other...
So that's what's up! How was your weekend? It's hard to get back into the routine after so much fun and sun but here's to more good times ahead this summer!
