Lunch In The Garden

Welcome to the unofficial start of summer! Here in North Carolina, we saw an absolutely gorgeous Memorial Day weekend. The Great Outdoors beckoned each and every day and while this ginger kid has to take it easy in the sun, lunch al fresco under the shade of magnolia trees is always the perfect compromise.

Make your outdoor entertaining trousseau just as fabulous as your indoor options! So many brands have started producing top notch melamine dinnerware and serving pieces, allowing endless possibilities for your next outdoor party. But don't forget that your indoor entertaining pieces can pull double duty. Take the indoors outside with items like this tablecloth, the placemats, napkins and flatware. Use what you have! But know that you can fill in the gaps with dinnerware that is not only beautiful but also practical.

Summer Style Muse: Miroslava Duma

Bright colors. Bold patterns. Statement accessories. Those sartorial pieces seem to serve as staple items in all of Miroslava Duma's street style looks. The 28-year-old Russian and former editor of Harper's Bazaar Russia has been dominating the scene over in Asia for years. Without realizing it, I've been a longtime admirer of hers and was inspired by that very first image of a brunette in a citron gown months ago. Then recently this petite lady caught my eye again in a fashion story and I've been taking tips from her ever since.

Founder of Buro 24/7, Mira, as her friends call her (and obvi we are going to be friends!), mixes some of the most complicated pieces with the greatest of ease. But keeping everything from the bag to her hemlines in proportion to her frame is what makes her outfits work! She often chooses clothing with interesting and precise construction and is never without a four-inch platform. Textiles that most of us would consider standout fabrics serve as basics in her wardrobe. Mastering the mix is never a simple task and not for the faint of heart. Prepare to get attention when you dress like Mira but, if you do it right, the attention will be all good!

While Mira's favorite designers might be Proenza Schouler, Marni and Chanel, you can still land her look for less. Check out these Mira-inspired pieces below!

Cool Blues

Do these pieces scream summer or what? J.Crew rolled out its June arrivals a tad early and these pieces really stood out in my mind. I love the aqua and navy blues paired with chartreuse the way J.Crew styled it in their lookbook below. It's exactly what I would wear these with aside from a white skirt or jeans.

So tell me- would you wear a giant crab across your torso? I sure as heck would!

Happy Memorial Day weekend! Wishing you much fun in the sun!!

Miami Eye Candy

If you follow me on Instagram, then you're already well aware that I was recently in Miami for a little vaycay! The trip was an absolute blast but Miami is a real handful...a beautiful paradise of a handful but still quite a bit to take in over the course of just a few days. The real point of the trip was to spend a little q.t. with my sister who lives six hours away. The two of us work like dogs so much so that I only get to see her a few times a year. She and I had a great time exploring the city, catching some rays, eating delicious meals and getting one fabulous spa treatment! I won't bore you with the details but I will gladly share with you some eye candy.
