Even though it's one TRILLION degrees out right now, pre-fall stock has begun dotting the racks of our favorite stores. And one color trend we absolutely cannot escape is all of the beautiful burgundies and merlots designers have poured for A/W 2012.
From mid-range designers such as James Perse and A.L.C. to high-end lines like Mulberry and Alexander McQueen, deep red tones add a beautiful rich flavor for fall. Designers used the hue in classically cut pencil skirts and pea coats as well as bold accessories to make them better than your basic black.

If you're ready to embrace this trend now, pairing merlot tones with brights proves to be a great way to work the trend into your summer wardrobe. Treat the burgundy like you would camel or khaki- it looks great with seafoam, as in the DVF look below, but rich with primary red or ivory. I'm also loving a little leopard next to this decadent color.

As a redhead, I looooove me some burgundy. But I have full faith that this tone can look rich on brunettes and a brighter red is beautiful on blondes.
It's gettin' hot in hurrrrrrrr....
You had me at merlot!
