Totally Fun Tilton Fenwick

Vibrant. Cheerful. Colorful. If adjectives like these pique your interest, then look no further than the interior stylings of design firm Tilton Fenwick. It's hard to believe that this New York based company was established only four years ago by Anne Maxwell Foster and Suysel dePedro Cunningham. The Tilton Fenwick aesthetic rings so perfectly clear and they have seen so much success so quickly that it feels like the designers must have been established long ago! In 2011, Tilton Fenwick was named "Rising Star of Interior Design" by the International Furnishings and Design Association, participated in the Hamptons Designer Showhouse and was named by Traditional Home as one of the top 20 "New Traditionals."

Shortly thereafter, fabric giant Duralee and Tilton Fenwick partnered to create new twists on familiar patterns with a major upholstery collection. Alone, these patterns may invoke the comforting feel of a countryside cabin but, as you can see in the images above, Tilton Fenwick loves to place a modern twist on tradition.

I recently perused the Duralee site looking for a fabric perfect for a mountain home's curtains. (The client chose the top paisley fabric...more to come on that later.) Imagine my pleasant surprise when days later, Target unveiled their newest collaboration with Tilton Fenwick, a playful collection of furnishings in Tilton Fenwick's signature Duralee fabrics now available at incredibly affordable prices.

With prices ranging from $219.99 for a fully upholstered ottoman to $884.99 for king sized bed, you won't have to eat Raman noodles to afford home furnishings. Play up the patterns by mixing in block prints with florals or stripes with paisleys. Or keep the upholstery the centerpiece by sparingly styling rustic neutrals in linen and wood. Which of these pieces are your favorite? How would you use it in your home? A playful settee in a cozy reading nook is just one of many ways I could see using these new pieces. Let me know if you get your hands on one!

Porch Pondering Part II + A Fab Find

Summer has officially arrived. This weekend in Wilmington, we saw temperatures in the 80s. Woohoo! Needless to say, my beau and I tackled a lot of outdoor projects to get the house warm weather ready. You may recall this post from a month ago where he and I started painting my front porch. Well, I'm happy to report that we finally finished. Phew! I think our hard work has paid off with a clean, fresh and appealing (instead of peeling) porch and, more importantly, an outdoor space we can enjoy this summer.

Of course, now that the porch floor is perfectly painted, I feel like covering and swanking it up! I headed to Target on Sunday to pick up this rug in hopes of getting one step closer to the look below. (Outdoor bart cart + basket chair swing? Heck yes!)

But when I got to Target, the website had lied- the rug was nowhere to be found. Lucky for me, Target had better things in store.

Does anyone else feel like a good lamp is hard to find? Sure, you find fabulous options at $400+ but a seriously great buy in the lamp department is a rarity. As I debated whether this impulse purchase would pay off, I just happened to run into my favorite decorator friend. Her mutual affection for this find had me officially sold and we strolled around until the lamp found itself a great textured lamp shade. Now the lamp has found its permanent home in my living room and couldn't be a better fit. What do you think?

The other table lamp in the living room is a World Market find from five years ago. Its mother of pearl finish has a glamorous but organic appeal to it. I've always wanted something to complement it without being matchy matchy. Mission accomplished? I think so!

So on to the next task- today my kitchen gets repainted! Hallelujah! Peeling paint must be my lot in this phase of life as the kitchen ceiling and walls currently reflect crack house status. Maybe after it is finished I will post before and after shots. Moral of the story: a homeowner's work is never done...at least this time someone else is doing the painting!

Wednesday's Look For Less: Snow Leopard Love

Happy Wednesday to you and Look for Less day! I'm super excited to show you this Look for Less option today. I think you're going to to dig it, especially if you've become a polka dot/dalmatian print/snow leopard lover like me.

About two weeks ago, I saw a super cute top that I had to have but when I did a little digging, the $200 + price tag immediately turned me off. I became determined to find a less expensive option. So, without giving too much away, take a look at the two tops below and guess which one costs less...

Don't you love both of these blouses? Their patterns are irregular and interesting but the neutral color scheme makes them easy to wear. The top on the right is by Merona from TARGET and costs less than $25! The top on the left, a Joie number that will cost you more than $200. Ouch. With each piece being so similar, why would you spend when you can save?

And speaking of saving, you may have caught my Tarjayyy post a few weeks ago where I raved over their Smith & Hawken pieces. On October 21, Nate Berkus (my love!) debuted his exclusive collection for Target. Talk about some GREAT looks for less. I MIGHT have snagged a few of these pieces as well...

Thus, the love affair with Target continues as they introduce more and more fabulous looks that cost less. My wallet is smiling.

Tarjayyyy

I had way too much fun at Target yesterday. It's probably because one of my oldest and most hilarious friends accompanied me (aka I asked her 20 times if she wanted to go to Target) but it didn't hurt that this super store has some deliciously cute stuff right now.

The mission started innocently enough. I needed these shoes...I mean they are $19.99. No need to think too hard on this one.

My pal selected its cousin for $14.99.

And then the insanity took over. I won't even get into all of the clothes I wanted...this top, these jeans and we all know by now that this dress is currently sold out in most sizes. It was all the goodness in the home section that could have cost me the power, water, cable and cell phone bills I need to pay this month. Specifically, I really had a cow over the Smith & Hawken for Target goodies.

String Lights/ Wreath/ Vase/ Pillow/ Topiaries/ Boot Tray (yes, a tray for your boots...not your Crocs though)

Woah. Back to reality. Today, though I'm still sweating these things and more, I feel like the topiaries are a necessity, a fall wreath is actually a decent investment (hello, one wreath for three months) and the boot tray will contain all the lovely gifts my beau likes to scatter around the front porch.

As for the shoes, they're coming in handy already...
