Fashion Week Round-Up

You may have noticed it's been a little quiet around Savoir-Flair. This silence was all in reverence to a captivating Fashion Week in New York. Live streams, Instagram feeds and famous designers' tweets kept me busy dashing around the 'net for the latest Spring '14 runways looks. All of that hard work and down time from the blog leads to one heck of a Fashion Week round-up today. Hint: It's gonna be a good year.

Metallics & Embellishments: 

They're baaaaack. And in the best way possible. For the freshest feel, pair your precious metals with pale pastels. Bonus points for beading.

Organic Patterns: 

Gone are the days of tribal inspired prints. Welcome back, Mother Nature. Everything from marble to geodes to tree branches was represented in the new organic patterns.

Feeling Fresh:

These aren't basic pieces- their dressed up details make each piece special but you can certainly wear them everyday. They aren't everyday pieces though. Does that make sense? In other words, fresh...not boring.

Textures:

Along the lines of organic patterns, even Spring's textures have an organic appeal. Until now, textural differentiation came in the forms of leather, tweed, silk and suede. Now it's all about sweet hand embroidery, fringe and sheer insets.

Sporty Menswear Inspired:

Whether it's an anorak, an oversized sweater or boyfriend shorts, women have it made in menswear for Spring. Keep in mind that we see menswear coming back year after year. If there's one trend to invest in, this one is it.

Of course, we must pay homage to some serious shoes...can't wait to get my hands on these!

Fashion Week is well underway in NYC and it's time to examine Fall 2013. While I haven't had tons of time to review all my favorite designers, I did take a quick peek at a few last night. What can you expect for next fall- moody hues, dark romance and tons of texture. Fall 2013 is less about mixing pattern and more about mixing textures. Pair leather with cashmere, satin with tweed or suede with marabou. Anything goes as long as you stay in a neutral color palette or attack the look with a tone-on-tone approach.

As you can see from the images above, there's not a whole lot of color to be found. After the J.Crew presentation this morning, I expect that void to be filled. (Can't wait to watch it unfold over Instagram!)

Packin It Up: Fashion Week

Technically, this post is a hypothetical packing list as I am not going to make it to Fashion Week this week...or next. But I was SUPPOSED to and had a mental list all prepared. You'll notice that these looks are grounded in neutrals and mostly black. Not that I want to look like one of those mean Brooklyn-ites off "Gallery Girls" but this fall's black is anything but basic. Doses of lightweight whites brighten the mood. It is technically still summer after all.

Anyone heading to the city anytime soon?

Lately

It has been WAY too long since my last post but I have a good excuse! Last Wednesday, I hopped a plane to Santa Fe for work and will be here for one whole month. For a fashion horse like me, it was all about strategic packing...

 Luckily, Labor Day weekend fell right after I arrived and I was able to hop yet another flight to Dallas to visit my beau and his family. We had a great, fun-filled time and also ran into Roberto Cavalli's Red Carpet replicas and originals in a fancy Fashion's Night Out display. Don't you love this dress that Victoria Beckham wore in 2005 to the White Tie and Tiara Ball?? I learned from a reliable source that Posh actually bought this dress after the event but a new release of this gorgeous Chinoise silk may be in the works...

Of course, my fur babies got in some pool time...

While I got in these Toms (which, for the record, are super duper comfortable and no Toms have ever fit me right until now)...

And officially began coveting these flats. Classic or crazy?? 

New York Fashion Week starts tomorrow and you better believe I am excited! I'm pretty much sick to my stomach about it as I was supposed to attend next week but got sent to Santa Fe. Le sigh...beggars can't be choosers.
